Groza Privacy Policy
Groza is a free app that shows current grocery specials from South African retailers. It is published by CreativeOS, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. This policy explains what information the app handles and why.
- You do not need an account, and the app does not ask for your name, email address, phone number or contacts.
- If you allow it, your approximate location is used on your phone to pick your province. It is never sent to us.
- The app contains no advertising networks, analytics or tracking tools.
- Your grocery list stays on your phone.
Information stored on your device
The grocery list you build in Groza is saved only in the app's storage on your phone. It is never sent to us. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app deletes it.
Information our service providers receive
To show you specials, the app requests deals and product images from our servers, which are hosted by Vercel and Supabase, and loads some product images from retailers' own image servers. As with any internet service, these providers receive standard technical information with each request, such as your IP address, device or browser type and the time of the request, and may keep it briefly in logs for security and reliability. We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not build profiles or sell information to anyone.
Retailer websites
When you choose to visit a retailer's website from Groza, that website is governed by the retailer's own privacy policy, not this one.
Promotions in the app
Retailer promotions shown in Groza are images included in the app. They do not collect information about you. If we introduce advertising in future, we will update this policy, and the app's data disclosures on Google Play, before that version is released.
Accounts
Groza currently has no sign-in. If we add optional accounts in future, we will update this policy first and provide a way to delete your account and its data.
Permissions
The app requests internet access, so it can load current specials, and approximate location, so it can show the specials that apply where you are.
Location is optional. If you allow it, your phone works out which of South Africa’s nine provinces you are in and the app asks our servers for that province’s specials. Only the province name leaves your phone; your coordinates never do, and we do not store or track where you are. If you decline, the app shows specials from across the country, and you can choose your province by hand at any time from the heading at the top of the app.
Children
Groza is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you may ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. Because the app does not collect personal information, we generally hold none, but you are welcome to contact us with any question. You may also contact the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Security
Information travelling between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will publish the updated version at this address with a new effective date.
